Intersect Aspen Announces Third Edition With 10+ New Galleries, Dynamic Cultural Programming and Deep Community Engagement

Returning to the Aspen Ic Garden, August 1-4, 2023

May 23, 2023 (Aspen, CO)—Intersect Art and Design announces the lineup for the third annual in-person edition of Intersect Aspen from August 1 - 4, 2023 at the Aspen Ice Garden.

Intersect Aspen is Aspen's only fine art and design fair, bringing a dynamic mix of modern and contemporary galleries to the mountains each summer. The fair is committed to building community and connectivity and is activated by timely and original programming both onsite and throughout the region. Through its cultural partnerships, programming, and curatorial vision, Intersect offers opportunities for dialogue, engagement, and inspiration.

This year’s edition of the fair will include 31 galleries from 27 cities around the globe and will be open to the public daily.

“Each year the energy and buzz about Aspen increases and our third edition does not disappoint,” said Becca Hoffman, Managing Director of Intersect Art and Design. She continued, “This year’s Fair boasts over 10 new galleries who promise to offer dynamic discoveries. In addition, we are so pleased to welcome back 20 returning contemporary and modern art exhibitors who have made early August in the mountains their go-to.”

Other highlights include our third installment of the popular VIP “Collectors at Home” series as well as activations with local non-profits; an afternoon tea at Anderson Ranch Arts Center; a VIP tour of the Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies; a film screening with Aspen Film and The Artist Profile Archive at the Aspen Film Isis Theatre; and a “Midsummer Celebration” at the Red Brick Center for the Arts in partnership with the Aspen Chamber Resort Association with live music, theatre, film, art, and much more.

Intersect Aspen will also feature a panel discussion with respected art world insider Josh Baer, whose newsletter, “The Baer Faxt”, has been the industry’s go-to source for art market news since 1994. Other sweet treats include ice cream and coffee on-site and daily artist led complimentary happy hours in partnership with Doña Vega Mezcal and a special “Late Night at the Fair” with specialty refreshments. Intersect Aspen is an annual art and culture event taking place each August in the heart of one of the nation’s most prestigious collector communities. Formerly known as Art Aspen, it has been running since 2010.

Intersect Palm Springs takes place each February and presents modern and contemporary art and design. Formerly known as Art Palm Springs, it has been running since 2012.

Collectors at Home Series
Since its first edition in 2021, Intersect has partnered with several collectors in Aspen who have generously opened their homes to a select number of Intersect VIPs throughout the week. This year’s series will not disappoint, with a highly respected group of collectors showing their extraordinary collections.

Midsummer Celebration
In partnership with Intersect Aspen, the Red Brick Center for the Arts and the Aspen Chamber Resort Association will celebrate summer with a showcase of arts and culture in Aspen. The afternoon includes performances by local musicians and dancers, interactive art activities, summer refreshments and more. This family-friendly event is open to the public. To learn more, visit

The Artist Profile Archive
The Artist Profile Archive, in partnership with Intersect Aspen and Aspen Film, present: “The Use of Photography and Representations of the Self.” The Artist Profile Archive, an online multi-media platform that produces short-form documentaries on contemporary artists, will share their films on artists Sheree Hovsepian and Letha Wilson. The screenings will be followed by a conversation with the artists, moderated by Sophie Chahinian, founder of The Artist Profile Archive. The event will take place August 2 at 5:30 pm at the Aspen Film Isis Theatre. To learn more, visit

Anderson Ranch Arts Center
The fair continues its partnership with the Anderson Ranch Arts Center, a place for artistic discovery, community, and dialog, located just outside of Aspen, with an Afternoon Tea on their campus in Snowmass Village. Intersect VIPs will have the opportunity to explore the grounds and studios, meet with Visiting Artists and learn about how this five-acre campus became one of the most respected visual arts centers in the country. Aspen Film and the Aspen Film Isis Theatre
Established in 1979, Aspen Film is one of Colorado's most active film arts organizations, presenting dynamic programs and featured guest artists throughout the year. Internationally recognized, Aspen Film organizes a major film event every season, along with an extensive education program. This year, Intersect Aspen will partner with Aspen Film to present films and a panel with The Artist Profile Archive at the Aspen Film Isis Theatre. An “Art and Finance” panel with Josh Baer will also take place at the Aspen Film Isis Theatre on August 3 at 11:30 am. The Aspen Film Isis Theatre Capital Campaign is in full swing. Leadership
Intersect Art and Design Owned and Managed by vGMgt LLC and is a partnership of brothers Tim and Dirk von Gal, who are event industry veterans with more than 50 years of combined experience creating successful trade shows and conferences for business, consumer, and art industry sectors. The three fairs had been under the umbrella of Tim von Gal’s former company Urban Expositions (founded in 1995), which was acquired by Clarion in 2015. The von Gal brothers’ launch of Intersect in April 2020 brings the fairs back under their management once again. Intersect is comprised of a team of dedicated professionals focused on customer service, integrity, and the experiential value of Intersect Art and Design.

Managing Director Becca Hoffman, who joined Intersect Art and Design in April 2020, was the Director of the Outsider Art Fair from 2013 – 2020, and was formerly the director of Peter Findlay Gallery, and Andrew Edlin Gallery. Hoffman received her B.A. in Fine Art Photography from Dartmouth where she helped start the first student art gallery and worked at the Hood Museum of Art. From there, Hoffman achieved her M.A. in Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s in London.
