Inaugural Intersect Aspen Art and Design Artist Award Recipient: Meghann Riepenhoff
Meghann Riepenhoff is the recipient of the inaugural Intersect Aspen Art and Design Artist Award. This annual award has been established to celebrate an outstanding artist whose work engages with the values of Intersect Aspen Art and Design Fair. As the 2024 fair focuses on conversation surrounding The Environment, Riepenhoff’s camera-less photography lends a strong voice and powerful imagery, creating a platform for discussion.
Riepenhoff is being honored for her innovative process of using natural elements, her ability to integrate organic materials, sustainable practices, and environmental themes into her work. Riepenhoff offers viewers of her work a profound connection to the natural world.
“I had the pleasure of seeing Meghann’s exhibition at Jackson Fine Art in Atlanta last October,” says Tim von Gal, CEO, Intersect Art and Design. “It was evident that her immersive environmental process shared extraordinary messages and insights about the beauty and complexity of our natural world. Meghann is the perfect recipient of this year’s award as we honor her and Aspen’s dedication to environmental consciousness through her unique and beautiful work.”
The award will be presented to the artist at 3 p.m. on the opening day of the fair, July 30. It not only celebrates Meghann’s artistic innovation and creativity but also the inherent environmental consciousness and sustainability embodied in her work. The 2024 award aims to promote the importance of nature in contemporary art, encouraging artists to explore and honor the beauty and complexity of the natural world in their creative endeavors.
“I’m honored to receive this award and am grateful that my work can draw attention to the essential questions of how we relate with our environment,” says Meghann Riepenhoff. “It is more essential than ever to realize our interconnectedness, and to find opportunities to prioritize environmental wellbeing."
